Possible Polycythaemia

Warning

exp date isn't null, but text field is

Most mild elevations of the haematocrit do not actually relate to an increase in red cell mass. To determine if someone has a true polycythaemia, and thus an increased risk of arterial or venous thrombosis, a red cell mass and plasma volume assessment must be performed. If true polycythaemia is confirmed then its cause needs to be identified to allow for optimal management.

This test will be requested by the Haematologist if required.
