- Preparations for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis are included in Vaginal and vulval conditions
- For oropharyngeal infections in Drugs acting on the oropharynx
- For dermatological infections in Anti-infective skin preparations.
Important: Therapy notes
- Oral terbinafine is reserved for proven dermatophyte infections.
- Take nail clippings: start therapy only if infection is confirmed by laboratory.
- Idiosyncratic liver reactions occur rarely with terbinafine; see BNF monitoring requirements. Advise patients to report immediately any signs or symptoms suggestive of liver dysfunction.
